Timberlake Wertenbaker, born 1951, is a British based playwright. She was born in New York City, New York, U.S. but raised in the Basque Country. She has written plays for the Royal Court and Royal Shakespeare Company to name a few.

Her best known play is Our Country’s Good, which won six Tony nominations for its production in 1991, and won the 1988 Laurence Olivier Award.

Timberlake is now a professor at the University of East Anglia in Norwich.
